As the jungle drums for a May 2024 election start to beat, the next few months are set to be a busy period for Local Plan teams throughout Kent.

 

Five consultations are currently running (as we go to press), with another six expected over the next two quarters. So, we’ve prepared a handy guide below to let you know what’s coming up.

Ashford

  • Call for Sites submissions open 8th September to 20th November 2023
  • Tenterden Neighbourhood Plan (Reg 16) out for consultation until 06th October 2023

 

Canterbury City Council

  • 12-week public consultation on second Reg 18 consultation on the new draft Local Plan “advised” Q1 2024.

 

Dartford

  • Local Plan Main Mods consultation ended 25th September

 

Dover

  • Local Plan at Examination – hearings in October/November

 

Folkestone & Hythe

  • Call for sites expected Q4 2023 (no dates published)

 

Gravesham

  • Long delays linked to Lower Thames Crossing decision – Estimate next consultation Q1/Q2 2024

 

Maidstone

  • Local Plan Main Modifications 30th September - 13th November 2023
  • Design & Sustainability DPD Reg 19 consultation expected Q3 2023
  • Gypsy & Traveller DPD Reg 18b consultation expected Q1 2024

 

Medway

  • Local Plan Reg 18 consultation - 18th September - 31st October.
  • High Halstow Neighbourhood Plan at examination

 

Swale

  • New Local Plan timetable currently unknown.
  • Faversham Neighbourhood Plan Reg 16 - closes 16th October 2023.

 

Sevenoaks

  • Local Plan Reg 18 consultation expected to run November 2023 – Jan 2024.

 

Thanet

  • No planned consultation

 

Tonbridge and Malling

  • Next consultation “advised” Q1/Q2 2024

 

Tunbridge Wells

  • Consultation on proposed changes/modifications to New Local Plan expected Q4 2023.
