DHA Planning have submitted their formal consultation response to the proposed changes to the #NPPF, which can be found here

In summary, DHA feels that the draft revised #NPPF goes a long way to unlocking national growth objectives and we are generally supportive of the approach taken in the draft. There are, however, some particular additional points which need attention, either because there has been a potentially missed opportunity to make further amendments to unlock growth, or because the proposed amendments are not workable, or could be improved.

In summary, our response focuses on the following key areas:

  • Support for a focus on #housingdelivery, particularly in areas of lowest affordability;
  • Support for measures which stimulate and incentivise #planmaking;
  • Asking for more support for #SME developers;
  • Support for relaxations of development on previously developed sites in the #greenbelt;
  • A call for an even further expanded definition of appropriate development in the Green Belt; and
  • Pushing the need for a workable approach to viability on released green belt and #greybelt

If you would like to discuss our consultation response any further, please feel free to contact DHA’s Patrick Reedman.
