DHA successfully argued that 89,000 residents north of the Canterbury district, around Herne Bay and Whitstable, are not served by a crematorium within the ideal 30-minute cortege drive time.
The scheme includes a chapel building set within memorial grounds, which will deliver enhancements to ecology across the site, which sits in an area of high landscape value.
The site, which includes an 85-bay car park, will enable Westerleigh to add to its network of 34 crematoria nationwide.
