Call for Sites - What is it?

Council’s ‘Call for Sites’ presents an opportunity for landowners, developers, businesses, organisation community groups and residents to suggest sites that they would like to be considered as part of the preparation of new Local Plans.

It presents an initial opportunity for individuals, landowners and developers to put forward available sites within the authority area for development within the forthcoming Plan period.

The Call for Sites exercise does not necessarily determine which sites will be allocated, however it will identify a pool of available and potentially suitable sites for further consideration during the Plan-making process.

This is usually presented within a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA or equivalent) and is used to inform work on the new Plan.

Call for Sites – How can DHA help?

Where necessary, DHA draw upon some or all in-house disciplines to address site-specific issues allowing for comprehensive submission packs.

We will prepare either a cover letter or more in-depth report depending on the level of detail considered to be required. This will be submitted alongside a supporting drawing pack. The content of this drawing pack can vary subject to site status, complexity and budget.

Recent experience demonstrates that the more evidence you can provide at the Call for Sites stage, the greater chance of success at allocation. Through doing this work at a minimal financial risk to you, we can maximise the potential of your site.
