A new two-form entry primary school on the outskirts of Canterbury has been given the green light from Kent County Council.

DHA managed the application on behalf of Morgan Sindall Construction, seeing it from the pre-application stage through to its determination by planning officers under delegated powers.

The £10m school will eventually accommodate up to 420 pupils aged four to 11, and will serve two large housing developments at Cockering Farm in Thanington that will see some 1,150 new homes being built.

Designed by Clague Architects, the plans include a new high quality educational facility, a 26-place nursery, a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), a football pitch, running track, car park and drop-off zone. It will provide early community infrastructure ahead of major housing growth on the wider site.

  • 420-place primary school
  • 26-place nursery
  • Multi-Use Games Area and other sports facilities
  • Parent drop-off zone
