On behalf of Medway Development Company, DHA secured detailed planning permission for the redevelopment of the former Civic Centre site in Strood.

The prominent brownfield site is in line to accommodate 195 high quality apartments and houses, designed with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. The riverside development will cater for a diverse range of residents and a quarter of the new homes will be affordable.

The scheme also includes enhanced public spaces, a waterfront café and improved connections between the High Street and the riverfront. Designed by architects BPTW, the development integrates a sensitive approach to building heights while maximising views of Rochester Castle and Cathedral.

The proposals received significant support from Members and Officers of Medway Council, describing the scheme as a high quality and exciting new development within Strood.

Nearby, Officers also approved DHA’s Reserved Matters Application for phases 4 and 5 of the Rochester Riverside development. The approval unlocks the next stage of the award-winning scheme and will deliver a mixed use development including a further 353 new homes within the northern part of the wider site, which will be built by Countryside Partnerships and Hyde Housing Group.
