Pepperness Vertical Farm
Working with GrowUp Farms Ltd, DHA has secured consent for a 9,000 sqm extension to its existing vertical farm, Pepperness.
The UK’s reliance on imported fresh produce, alongside increasingly unpredictable weather and water scarcity, highlights the importance of a resilient, home-grown food supply.
Working with GrowUp Farms Ltd, DHA secured planning consent from Dover District Council for the expansion of its Pepperness vertical farm at Discovery Park, near Sandwich.
The development makes productive use of a brownfield site, enabling GrowUp to grow salad crops year-round on the equivalent of around 1,000 acres of Grade I farmland, while using up to 95% less water than traditional farming and without pesticides. Powered by renewable energy it will support public demand for the availability of longerlasting salads all year round.
