Transport & Infrastructure

Our Transport and Infrastructure team combines in-depth technical expertise with extensive experience delivering transport planning projects across the UK. Working closely with local highway authorities, planning teams and project stakeholders, we identify transport and highways constraints early and develop practical, commercially focused solutions that unlock development potential, maximise site value and support successful planning applications.

From initial site feasibility and Local Plan promotion through to planning applications, appeals and project delivery, we provide robust transport planning advice and technical assessments tailored to each development. Our proactive approach helps navigate planning requirements, address highway concerns and keep projects moving forward.

Our transport planning services include:

Transport Statements and Transport Assessments

A Transport Statement or Transport Assessment is often required to support a planning application, demonstrating the transport implications of a proposed development and its suitability in terms of access, movement and highway capacity.

We prepare proportionate, evidence-based assessments that consider existing site conditions, relevant planning policy, accessibility and anticipated traffic generation. For larger or more complex developments, our Transport Assessments can include detailed traffic distribution analysis, junction capacity modelling and mitigation measures to identify and address potential impacts on the surrounding highway network.

Travel Plans and Travel Plan Coordinator Services

Travel Plans are commonly required for developments likely to generate significant levels of traffic, including large residential schemes, schools and commercial developments. They set out practical measures and targets to encourage walking, cycling, public transport and other sustainable travel choices.

We prepare Travel Plans tailored to the needs of each development and provide Travel Plan Coordinator services to support their implementation. Our role can include coordinating monitoring surveys, reviewing progress against agreed targets and helping developers meet their ongoing planning obligations.

Transport Feasibility and Local Plan Site Promotion

Understanding a site's transport constraints and opportunities at an early stage is essential to establishing its development potential. We provide transport feasibility advice and technical evidence to support site promotion through the Local Plan process.

Our work can include assessing site accessibility and sustainability, reviewing proposed development scenarios, estimating traffic generation and evaluating compliance with local and national transport guidance. Where required, we also prepare outline access designs to demonstrate how a site could be accessed safely and appropriately.

Additional Transport Planning Services

Alongside our core transport planning services, we provide a range of specialist technical support to help promote, plan and deliver development sites, including:

  • Transport strategies and highway improvement plans

  • Accessibility and sustainability assessments

  • Construction Traffic Management Plans (CTMPs)

  • Delivery and Servicing Plans (DSPs)

  • Vehicle swept path analysis

  • Outline access design and off-site highway works

  • Junction capacity modelling and highway mitigation

  • Traffic surveys, parking data collection and analysis

  • Transport planning expert witness services
