98 hectares of mixed use development for Laing O'Rourke
dha secured planning permission for a state-of-the-art pre-cast concrete manufacturing facility for Laing O’Rourke on a derelict former industrial site at Steetley Colliery, near Worksop, Nottinghamshire. The facility will allow Laing O’Rourke, the UK’s largest privately owned construction company, to manufacture a range of concrete construction products including walls, floors, columns and beams underfactory conditions, which can then be used in construction projects across the UK.
The application straddled a County and District boundary, but all four District and County Councils gave their support to the project. dha co-ordinated the planning application process and were subsequently commissioned to work with the local authorities to discharge conditions. dha demonstrated that the proposal would not lead to an increase in traffic. Photomontages were used to show that the extension would not lead to a greater visual or landscape impact than already existed. dha also demonstrated that the extension would not be harmful to the amenities of local residents.
dha also provided evidence to a subsequent High Court hearing resulting from an attempt by a local resident to have the decision judicially reviewed. The application for judicial review was firmly dismissed on all grounds.
