dha planning has secured permission on behalf Accent Peerless Ltd for the erection of 8 No. 3 bedroom social rented dwellings comprising two rows of four terrace properties following the demolition of 13 No. sheltered units on land at Windsor Court Road, Chobham, Woking.
Cook Associates designed a scheme that incorporated traditional materials and high quality design whilst ensuring the scheme respected the context of the existing urban form.
Planning officers were opposed to the development initially due to concerns raised over the loss of sheltered accomodation and the design of proposed layout. In response dha planning liaised with the Council's Housing Services Department to collate evidence to rebut the Council's statement that there was a lack of sheltered units in the area. Additional information was also collated and submitted to explain the design rationale.
After further negotiation involving a meeting with officers regarding parking levels, the scheme was recommended for approval and subsequently permitted at Committee in July 2012.
