dha secure permission for the erection of 16 No. dwellings at Brompton Farm, Strood
dha have secured outline planning permission for the demolition of the existing farm buildings and the erection of 16 No. dwellings on land at Brompton Farm.
The scheme comprises a mix of 4 No. two bedroom terraced houses, 2 No. two bedroom chalet bungalows and 10 No three bedroom semi-detached houses. The scheme includes the provision of 33 car spaces including visitor spaces with garages, surface level parking in front of these and dedicated off-street parking in garage courts.
The development is arranged in village courtyard style layout clustered around a private drive with development in depth off the frontage of the site. The design is based on a traditional vernacular with the development having to provide for a buffer between the built form and the Green Belt beyond the site.
The design was produced by our in house designers to meet our client’s requirements and to satisfy the requirements of the local planning authority.
The design mass, height and the layout of the scheme was examined in great detail by the local planning authority due to the sensitive location of the edge on the edge of the built-up area and its close proximity to the Green Belt and the adjacent Area of Local Landscape Importance. In addition there were issues of amenity, noise, overlooking, ecology, contamination and highways impact to consider in the context of the nearby dwellings in Brompton Road.
