dha secures permission for 9 new homes on the former KCC Highway Depot
dha have secured detailed planning permission for the erection of 9 No. dwellings on the former KCC Highway Depot site in Marley Road Harrietsham. Planning permission was originally granted for the development in May 2009. In order to preserve the permission for a further three years an extension of time application was submitted to Maidstone Borough Council in December 2012 and was subsequently granted on the 26th January 2012.
The scheme comprises a mix of 6 No. three bedroom houses, 1 No. two bedroom houses and 2 No. one and two bedroom flats over the garage (FOG). The scheme includes dedicated private amenity space and off-street parking and turning facilities. The parking provision is provided on the basis of 2 spaces for each of the houses and one space for each of the two flats. The development is arranged in village courtyard style layout clustered around a private drive and frontage development to Marley Road.
The design is based on a traditional Kentish village vernacular with overhanging eaves details, gable features with timber detailing and a mix of elevational finishes which include brick, tile hanging and render panels with a plain tiled roof over. The design was produced by our in house designers to meet our client’s requirements and to satisfy the requirements of the local planning authority. The design mass, height and the layout of the scheme was examined in great detail by the local planning authority due to the sensitive location of the edge on the edge of the village and its close proximity to the Kent Downs AONB.
