Planning Performance Agreement delivers positive result
Proof that early engagement with planning officers and members can deliver results was shown recently when DHA secured permission for a phased programme of improvements and new buildings at Newnham Court Shopping Village, Maidstone, including a 30,000ft2 extension and café.
Owned by Harvestore, one of DHA’s longest standing clients when the firm was started in 1986, Newnham Court at Junction 7 of the M20 is home to Notcutts Garden Centre and a community of other retailers.
Thanks to a Planning Performance Agreement with Maidstone Borough Council, DHA was able to work closely with officers on the proposals prior to submission of the application for the site which sits in the foreground of the Kent Downs AONB.
With approval secured Harvestore can now plan improvements, which when complete will see a striking new glazed atrium with ragstone wall features, a new café, an extension to the car park, new retail space and the re-cladding and re-roofing of a number of buildings.
