Expanding Dartford's Schools
Building on the Department of Education's commitment to provide more school places, DHA has secured consent for the expansion of two primary schools.
Working with Kier Construction, DHA Transport has helped secure planning consent for two primary school expansion projects in Dartford. The projects involved the expansion of Craylands Primary School in Swanscombe from one form entry to two form entry and Temple Hill Primary School in Dartford from three form to four form entry.
In each case, DHA Transport conducted detailed survey work and analysis to allay local concerns over traffic congestion and overspill parking during the school pick-up and drop-off periods. A combination of physical measures and Travel Plan initiatives such as Walking Buses were proposed in order to mitigate the schools' additional transport impacts. Following negaotations with the Local Highway Authority, these solutions were accepted and planning consent was subsequently granted by Kent County Council's Planning Applications Committeee.
