Reminder: Tunbridge Wells seeks Housing & Employment Land
Deadline for submitting suitable sites to Tunbridge Wells is fast approaching.
A report commissioned by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council revealed that the Council needs to significantly increase the amount of housing planned for within its administrative area. The Strategic Housing Market Assessment identified a need for at least 12,960 houses (648 per year) in Tunbridge Wells between 2013 - 2033. The emerging requirement is more than double its current target of 300 homes per year.
In light of this housing need, Tunbridge Wells are inviting submissions to identify sites and broad locations from housing and employment land within the Borough as part of a Call for Sites exercise.
The Council are interested to understand all of their potential options for future allocations, even if they are sites which have been rejected in previous years. In order to meet their significant need for housing and employment sites, the Council are giving serious consideration to suitably located sites which might have been considered unsuitable in the past. It is possible that the Council’s Green Belt boundaries may need to be reviewed, so a current Green Belt designation may not prevent a site being allocated in due course, if it can be shown to be a good location for development.
The deadline is now fast approaching so landowners and developers are advised to act fast to submit potentially suitable sites.
Deadline for submissions: 1st August 2016
