dha Secure New Academy
DHA Planning have secured planning permission for the new Strood Academy on behalf of BAM Construction.
BAM is the preferred bidder for the £80 million redevelopment of three Medway Academies in what is believed to be the largest contract award so far under the academies programme.
DHA Planning, were part of a team comprising Nicholas Hare Architects, The Landscape Partnership, Royal Haskoning Consulting Engineers and Hoare Lea.
The Academy was formed in 2009 as part of the Government’s Academies programme and the new building will accommodate up to 1,500 pupils. A wind turbine will provide a significant proportion of the energy requirements of the new Academy and will also be used as part of the teaching programme to illustrate the benefits of alternative energy resources.
