Unanimous approval has been secured to replace two condemned fourteen storey buildings on the Aintree Estate in Hammersmith with new homes that will achieve ‘Passivhaus' environmental performance – reducing net carbon by 86%.

The London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham can now transform the former Hartopp and Lannoy Point site and deliver 134 energy efficient homes, 84% of which will be affordable. Local residents in housing need will get first priority to rent one of the new affordable homes being built and 10% of the flats will be adapted for wheelchair users.

DHA's transport team prepared the Transport Assessment, Travel Plan, Active Travel Zone Assessment and Pedestrian and Cycle Audits, working closely with BPTW's architectural and planning consultancy teams.

Working with energy and sustainability consultants, BPTW adopted a fabric first approach with an intensive form factor, PV panels and air source heat pumps to enable the zerocarbon
goal to be achieved.

The existing buildings will be replaced with three apartment buildings ranging in height from three to seven storeys that front a new community green. Construction on the 0.8 ha site, which will offer family-friendly play spaces, electric vehicle charging facilities for local residents, as well as cycle parking storage for 250 bicycles, is expected to start in spring 2023.
