New Ash Green

Following the relocation of Bovis Homes’ Kent headquarters to Kings Hill, plans came forward to redevelop the site situated in a predominantly residential area in New Ash Green.

The new owner, Even Group, a property developer based in North London, appointed DHA to secure permission for the development of 49 one-bed and two-bed apartments in the vacant office buildings. The proposals also included plans for four three-bed houses to be built within the existing car park.

Key facts

The 19th century manor house had been significantly extended over Bovis Homes' occupation from the 1970s to 2018 and the proposals were carefully designed to restore the historic building’s fabric and setting.

The success of the project relied on DHA’s close working relationships with Sevenoaks District Council. Along with the building’s listed status, DHA advised on a range of issues including local plan promotion and justification for the loss of employment floor area.

The scheme designed by Den Architecture was supported by the New Ash Green Village Association and local Ward councillor as being in keeping with the community’s 1960s architecture.

Permission was granted under delegated powers and work is expected to get under way early in 2020.
