The scheme involved the demolition of an existing log cabin building, stable block and the removal of hard surface car park areas.
DHA Planning and DHA Urban Design worked closely with the clients to design the single storey house with basement living, a detached garage, landscaping and access. The proposal was the subject of detailed pre-application discussions and meeting with the local planning authority, which was key to securing permission for this site.
The Council accepted the argument that the proposed dwelling was appropriate in scale, height and design and represents a significant enhancement to the character and the appearance of the site and more importantly, a significant enhancement to the openness of the Green Belt.
Accordingly a case of very special circumstances was demonstrate to the local planning authority and planning permission was secured under delegated powers.
