The building was constructed in 1847 and used as a church prior to its conversion to retail use in the early 1980’s and is Grade II* listed, with a frontage portico which is Grade I listed.
The application involved the change of use of the building from purely A1 retail use to a mixed use of A1 retail and A3 coffee / tea shop and the change of use to part of the street frontage to an outdoor seating area, along with a number of minor alterations necessary for the scheme. As part of the proposals, DHA also gained listed building consent to alter the frontage of the building to provide a glazed access to the proposed Cotswold Outdoor store and the coffee shop area.
