The building, at Pigstrood Farm, is considered a heritage asset by the local council however a combination of arguments relating to the quality of the scheme, the businesses run by the occupier of the dwelling and the overall setting of the site were such to convince Wealden as to the merits of the proposal.
This success followed an earlier planning permission on a site within Maidstone at Tudor Barn for a self-contained annex where proper assessment of the heritage asset itself alongside careful consideration of the appropriate design approach also led to a positive outcome.
