The Mercia Power Response Hubs perform a key role in ensuring the UK is supplied by a resilient electricity infrastructure by generating electricity for the surrounding networks should there be a peak in demand or issues with supply sources.
The three power hubs have been secured at three separate sites in the UK:
Whitehill Road, Gravesend - the site, historically known as the Woodyard, contained a storage building and shipping containers.
Kestral Road, Mansfield - currently being used as a vehicle hire depot.
Albion Close, Workshop - currently used as an open storage yard.
Permission for the three separate planning applications was granted in Autumn 2016.
