Passivhaus, Boughton Monchelsea

A full application for a new home in the open countryside received local support and was granted planning permission by Members on the basis that the site was located within a sustainable location, had high sustainable credentials, and was well designed so would result in no visual harm to the character of the locality.

The design of the building was commended by Members and the Conservation Officer as complementing the historic character of the area, and responding positively to the high quality landscaping within which it will sit.

The dwelling has been designed to ‘Passivhaus’ standards and will be used by students from Kent University to monitor for research purposes. 

Passivhaus is the fastest growing energy performance standard in the world. The approach: build a house that has an excellent thermal performance and exceptional airtightness with mechanical ventilation.
