Cotswolds Building - Tunbridge Wells

DHA secured planning permission and listed building consent for the change of use and alterations to the former Habitat Building on Mount Pleasant in Tunbridge Wells on behalf of our client Cotswold Outdoors. The building was constructed in 1847 and used as a church prior to its conversion to retail use in the early 1980’s and is Grade II* listed, with a frontage portico which is Grade I listed. The application involved the change of use of the building from purely A1 retail use to a mixed use of A1 retail and A3 coffee/tea shop and the change of use to part of the street frontage to an outdoor seating area, along with a number of minor alterations necessary for the scheme. As part of the proposals, DHA also gained listed building consent to alter the frontage of the building to provide a glazed access to the proposed Cotswold Outdoor store and the coffee shop area.
