Steetley - Nottinghamshire
DHA secured planning permission for a state-of-the-art precast concrete manufacturing facility for Laing O'Rourke on a derelict former industrial site at Steetley Colliery, near Worksop, Nottinghamshire. The facility will allow Laing O'Rourke, the UK's largest privately owned construction company, to manufacture a range of concrete construction products including walls, floors, columns and beams under factory conditions, which can then be used in construction projects across the UK.
The application straddles a county and district boundary, but all four district and county councils gave their support to the project. DHA co-ordinated the planning application process and are continuing to work with the local authorities to discharge conditions. We will also be working with Laing O'Rourke to develop a master plan for the wider 85 hectares site, which includes a disused quarry and colliery.
