Ryarsh - Kent
Ryarsh Brickworks is some distance from Ryarsh Village and represented a major existing intrusion into the Green Belt. Although contrary to policy the benefit of completely removing it rather than re-using was felt to be overwhelming. A major community involvement exercise to secure locally generated ideas has led to a well supported scheme to clear the brickworks rather than re-use the site, in exchange for an attractive village extension incorporating environmental and other local improvements.
DHA services included concept generation, community involvement, design and delivery and planning application negotiations with the Local Planning Authority.
