Exhibition for Spires Academy
DHA planning organised and ran a public consultation session on behalf of Carillion Building in relation to the redevelopment of Spires Academy into a new state-of-the-art educational facility, together with parking, playing fields, landscaping and ancillary works.
Following numerous pre-application meetings, DHA promoted, organised and ran a public exhibition at the existing school site in Sturry, Canterbury in September 2010 in order to consult the local residents on the proposed development. Numerous parties were invited including Kent County Council members; Canterbury City council members; parish council members; and the parents, staff and students of Spires Academy.
Design proposals were presented to local residents using a variety of methods including a 3D model of the finished school, exhibition boards, and projected external and internal images of the proposed facility. A number of professionals from a variety of disciplines including Architects Jestico & Whiles, were present and on hand throughout the afternoon allowing residents to express their views and ask questions. Local opinions were collated via the distribution of feedback questionnaires allowing the views of local residents to be expressed and included in the forthcoming planning application due to be submitted in October 2010.
