New Notcutts Garden Centre

DHA secure planning permission for a new 40,000 sq ft garden centre

Notcutts Pembury

DHA Planning has secured planning permission for a new garden centre at Notcutts existing premises at Pembury, Tunbridge Wells. The new garden centre comprises a single bespoke building, attached canopy plant display area and car parking for 200 cars. The scheme will rationalise development across the site, replacing the current collection of outdated buildings and structures. The new garden centre totals circa 40,000sqft which represents a 10,000sqft increase in built development which given the Green Belt location is a significant achievement.

A compelling case of Very Special Circumstances was presented which was ultimately accepted as being sufficient to outweigh Green Belt policy objections by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council Planning Committee on 6th June 2011.

Whilst the development undoubtedly represents a significant development in this location permission was secured without being encumbered by a S106 Legal Agreement or being referred to the Secretary of State for potential call in.
