The depot replaced the Council’s existing and outdated depot, providing modern and bespoke facilities on a greenfield site allocated for mixed residential and employment development. The project also forms a key part of the Council’s wider successful Growth Point bid.

DHA worked closely alongside Gallaghers, Cornish Architects to put together a full planning application, incorporating a strong commitment to sustainable design and construction, including:

  • A design stage BREEAM pre-assessment demonstrating a commitment to achieve a ‘Very Good’ rating.
  • Rainwater harvesting and recycling.
  • Solar panels.
  • SUDS surface water drainage.

Permission was granted, following the production of presentation material to Members and negotiations with Officers. DHA subsequently co-ordinated the clearance of conditions, including the development of a Green Travel Plan for the site.
