Claygate Distribution had expanded to operate from a number of premises within the Pattenden Lane industrial estate in the village. In 2007 DHA secured planning permission for a new 7,060 sq m state-of-the-art distribution facility on land to the east of the industrial estate. The company consolidated their operation and occupied the new facility in 2008 after an £8.5 million investment in the site.

DHA provided evidence to convince the Council that the applicant was an important local business that had outgrown the current premises resulting in an inefficient, split-site business operation. By relocating to a new purpose built facility, they could secure a better pattern of operation and secure their future in Marden, thus retaining local jobs.

DHA planning also prepared and submitted an application for an additional warehouse to the south of the current facility. The building complements the existing building, with a curved roof design.
