The John Wallis Academy

The John Wallis Church of England Academy was formed in 2010 as part of the Kent Batch 2 Academies programme and opened on the site of the former Ashford Christ Church School. 

The creation of a new school development forms a crucial part of the delivery of the Kent Batch 2 Academies programme. The school site is located south of Stanhope Road, some 1.5 km south west of the town centre in Ashford.

The Academy is surrounded on all sites by residential development and the buildings of the former Linden Grove Primary School to the east. 

DHA worked with Willmott Dixon Construction and Hunters Architects to secure full planning consent for the erection of a new school building and associated facilities including:

  • Redevelopment of the western section of the main building to provide a two storey main entrance area and theatre. 
  • Erection of a three storey skills block
  • Refurbishment of the eastern wing and sports hall. 
  • Demolition of existing temporary buildings.
