DHA Transport and DHA Planning worked with Kier Construction on the proposed permanent expansion of the St Gabriel's College Brooke Site and the temporary use of their Cormont Road site in the London Borough of Lambeth.
The proposed permanent expansion will accommodate an additional 300 pupils by the year 2023 within a ‘super block’ building in the middle of the site which will incorporate a sports hall surrounded by teaching, administration, kitchen and dining spaces.
The Transport Assessment prepared by DHA Transport included measures to mitigate against the development’s impact on the local transport infrastructure. As part of these measures a Travel Plan was prepared to promote the use of sustainable transport, which will be phased in over a five year period. Furthermore it was confirmed that all construction works will be contained within the development site, minimising the impact of HGV vehicles on the public highway and 50 cycle parking spaces will be provided to satisfy projected demand.
Through extensive negotiations DHA Planning received a full planning permission from Lambeth Borough Council for the permanent expansion on the Brooke Site and the temporary use on the Cormont Road Site during the construction phase.
