The Academy  comprises the former Wilderness School and Bradbourne School and previously operated from a split campus on the sites of each former school. The decision was taken to consolidate teaching provision on the Bradbourne site (known as Knole West).

The school is located within the Green Belt and therefore Very Special Circumstances were required to be demonstrated to justify the development.

DHA worked with Willmott Dixon, Studio E and Hunters Architects to secure full planning consent for the erection of new school buildings and associated facilities including:

  • A single new building of 6178 sq m (gross) which includes a sports hall and assembly hall/theatre.
  • Retention of existing temporary classrooms for a further temporary period.
  • Retention of existing outdoor sports pitches and creation of an All Weather Pitch.
  • New hard and soft recreational areas.
  • Provision of a circulatory access for coaches / buses.
  • Creation of a new parking areas accommodating 195 car parking spaces and 222 cycle parking spaces.
  • New strategic landscape provision to create a campus style setting.
