The existing school is spread across five separate sites, including two grade II listed buildings, surrounding the village green. These facilities are extremely dated and fall significantly short of modern teaching standards.

The planning application represented the culmination of a lengthy public consultation and site selection process that first began in 2004.

DHA demonstrated the need for the development within the AONB and the lack of alternative means of provision to satisfy the requirements of Planning Policy and the NPPF.

The selected site required the provision of a new access, the design of which was considered by DHA Transport who also prepared a full Transport Statement for the application. DHA Transport also designed a package of highway works designed to reduce vehicle speeds past the site.
